Proof of Union Status
When goods are acquired through intra-Community trade, and even though the territory between EU member states is a free movement zone for goods, the importer is required to submit documentation to customs to certify the Community status of the goods.
This typically occurs when Union goods, during their transportation, temporarily exit the customs territory of the Community for part of their journey and then re-enter it.
The following documents are commonly used as proof of the Union status of goods:
- T2 & T2L
- T2LF (for special fiscal territories).
However, for the sake of customs simplifications, other evidence may also be used to prove the Union status, such as:
- The Status C indication on the cargo manifest for air or shipping companies,
- An invoice or transport document exclusively for Union goods, marked with T2L or T2LF,
- A TIR Carnet appropriately annotated with T2L or T2LF and duly endorsed by the customs office of departure,
- Other relevant documents.
